MANILA, Feb. 8, 2013— A group of religious men and women will post bail for whistleblower Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada who is facing arrest over graft charges.

An official of the Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMRSP) said they were able to raise P60, 000 for Lozada’s bail.

“We were able to raise funds and we will post the bail immediately after his arrest,” said AMRSP co-chairperson Sr. Mary John Mananzan.

The nun said they are expecting the warrant of arrest against the two to be served as early as Monday next week.

The Sandiganbayan had ordered Lozada’s arrest for two counts of graft for allegedly granting leasehold rights over public lands to his brother and to a private firm with connections to him and his wife when he was the president of Philippine Forest Corp. in 2007.

Lozada has been under the refuge of the AMRSP since he decided to testify in the Senate inquiry into the aborted $329.48-million National Broadband Network (NBN) deal with China’s ZTE Corp. in 2008.

Mananzan said that unidentified armed men have ominously threatened Lozada recently.

“His enemies are taking advantage of this situation,” she said.

She said they asked already the police authorities to coordinate with them about serving Lozada his warrant of arrest.

“We would bring him to the authorities and post the bail. We would go through the legal procedures,” said Mananzan. (CBCPNews)
